Little people's enthusiasm for their time spent in the great outdoors:
The bond between a girl and her cat:

Friends who join you for a lantern walk and then serve you a delicious, warm fall dinner:
Joy over very small things, like how much speed you can build up with your friend's apple peeler:
Friends who are more like family who come upstairs to celebrate your half-birthday with you on last-minute invitation:
The beauty and surprise of the first snow, even when you know it's coming:
And amazing readers and friends who return to your little online space to read, comment, and message you, even when you disappear from the face of the earth. Thank you! I hope your weekend is filled with so many tiny bits of joy.

Glad to see your time away from us has been full of joy!
(I was seriously writing this the same time you were commenting on Wednesday's *ahem* outfit!
I am trying to schedule a trip to Montreal in the new year maybe just Wednesday and I since I have a couple blogging moms to meet and some old friends I haven't seen since before she was born. I will keep you in loop if you like?
Nice pictures. I was wondering if the blog was continuing...
Love the photos! All of this is worth so much more than anything you can buy!!!
I've missed your posts! Very happy to see this one =)
Melissa--yes, of course! Let us know when you'll be in town. I recently met up with MaryAnne (who commented two below you) when she came into town with her family. It's nice to meet bloggers in person :).
Nadia--thanks! Yeah, I can see how you might have wondered that ;).
MaryAnne--I've really missed posting. I'm glad to be back.
This just brought tears to my eyes, but what else is new?! Glad to see you back on the blog, and even more glad to see the wonderful things you've been doing. I am loving the lantern walk...tell me more...candles or battery-operated?
Jill--this is the first year we've done a lantern walk, and we'll definitely do it again. The tradition comes from a holiday called Martinmas, but I kind of left out what I didn't like and shared a story with my kids (that I found online) about a small child who is given a small spark from the sun to keep him warm and give him light through the cold, dark winter.
We did use real candles. I taped tealights to the bottom of the lanterns, which we made out of watercolor paper, tissue paper, and yarn. I wasn't too concerned about fire because I figured if they dropped them, the flame would probably just go out, and if not, we could stomp it out. The unexpected problem we had was wind! The candles went out a bunch of times. Next year we'll make lanterns with lids :).
What a beautiful post!
Thank you for reminding us that life's pleasures really are about the simple, most beautiful experiences. And...welcome back! We have missed you!
Lesley :)
Hear hear!
Thanks Lesley and Jenny!
So glad you are back, I hope everything is okay - it looks like it is from the photo diary - That is one special photo peeling apples! I must say I was surprised at how Black Friday has become popular in Canada. I went to the blood donor clinic and no one was there. I asked why - apparently black Friday! I look forward to reading about your advent activities and your blog header is so, so pretty.
Beautiful pics! And even though I've just discovered your blog, I'm so glad that you've captured such a wonderful time with family so well. Take care!
