Handygirl

I'm not usually very gung-ho about bringing home new toys.  We have more than enough, and I've been trying to de-clutter for a year and a half.

There are, however, exceptions to be made.  I emailed my very handy dad back in the winter asking him if he could help my girls make their own foldable toy ironing board.  True to form, he did not disappoint.

When we arrived in Michigan, he had designed and pre-cut a toy wooden ironing board (and bonus iron.)  One day near the beginning of our trip, he and the girls worked together to make this fabulous new toy.

 (Concentration face.  My favorite.)

I'm trying to convince him to open an Etsy shop when he retires next year.  Good idea, no?

Excellent idea. If he sells kits you can assemble yourself that would be awesome (though pre-made is nice too)!

Allison--that is EXACTLY what I said to him! I'll show him your comment :).

Awe-some! What a great grandpa!!

P.S. I left some answers to your questions in my comments section. I hate how blogger doesn't let one respond to comments directly.

Now that is a cool grandpa.

Your girls will remember that project for a long time.

This is awesome! And yes, your dad needs to open up an etsy shop. I also love the idea of doing wood work in butterfly wings. I may need to get a pair for myself for when Emi and I do our woodworking. E.

Andrea--I went back and read your comments, and I think you have convinced me to start a nature journal :). I, too, hate that we can't respond to comments on Blogger. I'm at a Wordpress conference right this minute, and I'm really itching to get away from Blogger.

Kathryn--I think they will remember it too--much more than if he had just made it himself and given it to them.

E--I'd love to learn more about what kind of woodworking you and Emi are doing.

Yes, please, on the etsy shop!

Love the tongue stuck out in concentration, and the fairy wings for woodworking!

Such a great post!! I'm going to show it to Carl to see what he can come up with for the boys. Your dad and Ninna are too cute for words, btw.
